Many of our Dutch users have R&R accrue weekly leave based on hours worked. Here, a choice can be made to make a breakdown between statutory and non-statutory leave with the application of the corresponding expiration periods.
Because both statutory and non-statutory leave are accrued weekly, it can happen that leave is accrued with non-statutory hours because not all statutory leave hours have been accrued at that time. To ensure that employees do start the new year with the excess statutory leave to which they are entitled, R&R created a process to recalculate at the end of the year how the leave should have been written off.
This rebalancing of leave took place after the last payout of the previous year. The 2024 leave chart at the bottom explicitly shows that a rebalancing took place.
