Amendment to CAO Foodstuffs Sunday allowance

Recently, a change was announced regarding the Sunday allowance for the CLA Foodstuffs. The bonus will go up to 50%, except for employees who already worked on Sundays in 2021. This group will receive 100% bonus up to a maximum of the number of hours worked on Sundays in 2021. This applies up to and including 2024,

How will the new regulation be incorporated into R&R?

The last week of 2021 runs until 02-01-2022. We have chosen to have the new regulation take effect at 03-01-2022, week 1.

The Sunday supplement of 50% will automatically apply to all employees who enter service after 31-12-2021. R&R looks at the historical date of employment.

For employees who entered service before 31-12-2021, R&R calculates once the number of hours worked on a Sunday over the period 01-01-2021 to 31-12-2021 (or from the date of entering service). These calculated reference hours are shown on the employee card during week 1-2022. These hours can be adjusted.

The reference hours are used to provide hours worked on a Sunday in 2022 with a 100% Sunday allowance. If an employee works more hours on Sunday than the reference of 2021, the next hour worked on Sunday will result in a 50% Sunday bonus. The same mechanism is used in 2023 and 2024, whereby the reference hours of 2021 are always taken into account.

When, as an employer, you choose to compensate by means of an individual bonus, you can indicate in R&R at employee level that the Sunday bonus has been bought off. This option is only shown for employees who entered into service before 1-1-2022. These employees then always receive a bonus of 50% when working on Sunday. From Sunday 5-1-2025 onwards, all employees will receive a bonus of 50% when working on Sundays.
