From graduate internship and traineeship to UX designer: read about Wiebke's development

Wiebke Meyer - R&R

Wiebke Meyer works as a UX designer at R&R. Wiebke is - together with her team - responsible for the user experience of R&R's workforce management software. In her role, she is involved in various activities, such as the user interface and the appearance of the product, but also in organising user tests, for example. In an interview, Wiebke talks about her job as UX designer, the traineeship she followed and her (future) development.

Graduation and traineeship

In 2019 Wiebke had just graduated from the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), was back in the Netherlands and looking for a graduation internship in the Netherlands. Through a third party, she saw that R&R was looking for a UX designer. After a good mutual click it was quickly arranged: Wiebke went to work for R&R. As a young talent, after her graduation internship she ended up in a traineeship programme. Within this programme, young newcomers are intensively coached in various areas. Both personally and professionally.

Wiebke: 'The traineeship was great fun and educational. You are guided within several fixed and flexible modules. You also get to know yourself on a completely different level. I learned a lot about soft skills in the personal leadership module. That was really impressive. In addition to the guidance, you also get to work directly in practice within the organisation and the various teams. You are truly a colleague in your own right. That combination of intensive coaching and gaining experience in practice is very valuable.

Rapid development within a pleasant organisational culture

In the personal and professional development, it is especially helpful to get to work yourself. You also get a lot of freedom. If you want, you can always consult with them, but otherwise you get all the space you need. You develop yourself because you really have to take action yourself. In short, you are challenged to shape your own development. This has also had a strong positive impact on my personal growth.

R&R's organisational culture also helps my development. I find it a very pleasant environment. It is a really open culture with an informal atmosphere. You have a lot of contact with different colleagues and teams. In addition, there is always room for a chat with colleagues and fun on the shop floor. What is also very strong is that the organisation is always open to new ideas or certain courses and trainings. Even if it is outside the existing framework. We always discuss what is possible together and in consultation.

The future of R&R and Wiebke's further development

I hope that we can grow and expand strongly in the coming period. So that we can develop even better software and deliver even more value to our customers. Above all, I see a lot of room for further personal development. I also like the fact that I am more or less obliged to keep developing myself in my field. You simply have to keep up with all the new trends, otherwise you will fall behind.

The developments within the organisation are very favourable. We are really making a transition to being more open and transparent with our customers and users. Communication (both internal and external) is noticeably improving. Of course, we always see room for further development. Such as including our customers even more in our activities and communication.

R&R is always looking for points of improvement. We now divide large areas for improvement into smaller, incremental steps that are tackled in a short period of time. Then you really see a positive change and that's great to see!

Will you be our new colleague?

Wiebke: "We would also like to attract new, talented employees. For our team, but also for the other teams within the organisation. So we are always looking for young talents who enjoy working in a pleasant environment on the various challenges and growth of our organisation.

Whether you are a starter, want to make a career switch or have been around longer and are ready for a new challenge, we have various interesting vacancies. All with the opportunity to develop and grow both personally and within the organisation. Curious about the possibilities or the working atmosphere? Then take a look at our working at R&R page or contact us without obligation. We are always open for a cup of coffee and an informal introduction.
