From Excel to overview: how EDEKA Schliermann gained control over personnel planning

For years, EDEKA Schliermann used a homemade Excel spreadsheet for planning. This was time-consuming and provided little overview. After switching to R&R, the workplace became calmer, clarity was created for employees, and market management found things easier. Curious to find out why else they chose R&R? How did you organize staff scheduling before R&R?
Before R&R, we did our scheduling in a homemade Excel sheet. It could only handle the basics, such as working hours and the duration of daily and weekly hours.

Why did you choose R&R?
We had been looking for a planning tool for some time. After comparing several programs, we found R&R to be clearer and, above all, easier for our employees to use thanks to the app. An important reason was that we finally wanted to get rid of paper administration. That was only possible with a good app.

What results have you achieved?

After a short adjustment period, our employees' satisfaction levels rose significantly. They could enter their appointments wherever and whenever they wanted. Their working hours were recorded accurately to the minute, eliminating any ambiguity.
This also gave our managers more peace of mind. Appointments could be entered immediately, vacations were ready in advance, and several people could work on the schedule at the same time—even from home.

How did you experience the implementation and collaboration?

The support provided during the start-up and installation of the time clocks went smoothly. During the initial start-up, Mr. Brüggemann took the time to calmly go through all our questions. Even after that, we received quick responses and any errors or incorrect settings were resolved immediately.
To this day, we receive excellent support whenever we have questions. In addition, every year in October we receive the Excel file for our vacation planning, so that we can work easily and effectively in that area as well.

What was the biggest difference in the first few months after the switch?

Employees who had little experience with smartphones needed a little more explanation. After this short adjustment period, we experienced many advantages:

– No more paper notes with days off, vacations, or seminars.
– Far fewer questions about whether appointments had been received correctly.
– Schedules are always available to employees.
– Phone calls about working hours stopped almost immediately.
– Better control of working hours thanks to the spot check system.

Why would you recommend R&R? For which companies?

I would particularly recommend R&R for the retail sector. I can't say as much about other sectors.
I recommend R&R because the system is easy to use for owners, managers, and employees. The employee app is powerful and offers all the important features.
The reports on key figures and cycle times are clear and can be exported in various formats.
